Senior Shia scholar slams Zaria massacre as shame for perpetrators

Sheikh Hamid Shahriari, senior Iranian cleric in his speech at fifth anniversary of the Zaria massacre which led to killing of hundreds of Nigerian Shias and detention of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and referred to the silence of international organizations to the incident as hypocrisy to human rights.

The cleric in his remarks addressing the fifth anniversary of Zaria massacre via videoconference denounced the “bloodied hands of Zionists” for their role in massacre of hundreds of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky followers.

He rejected the assault of Nigerian army against a gathering of Shia in Zaria, killing of senior members of the Nigeria Islamic Movement, killing sons of Shia leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and also allegations of the army over assassination plot against army commander by the Shia movement as a Zionist plot targeting the minority group.

Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought stressed the massive killings and widespread violence proves hostilities with Islam and its high objectives.

“It is no matter for Zionists where and when, they prove their violence and animosity in Palestine, Nigeria, Iraq and Iran” said Sheikh Shahriari.

He stressed,” Enemies should note that no hypocrite deal will last forever and the Nigerian nation is awake due to the brevity of those martyred in Zaria.”

Fifth anniversary of Zaria massacre was held online on Friday and several Muslim elites from different countries made speech on the brutal attack by Nigerian army against gathering of Shia Muslims in Zaria, Kaduna State back in 2015 which led to killing of at least 348 civilians.
