On the occasion of Arbaeen 1443 AH, and the anniversary of the demise of the Holy Prophet of Islam (p.b.u.h), the conference “Message of Arbaeen” was held by the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly in Kabul, with the presence of scholars, academic figures, influential people, youth, and university students.
After the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Qari Sayed Hakim Hosseini, and the recitation of Salawat Zainabia by Mr. Ahmad Ali Hassani, Ayatollah Salehi Modarres, the head of the Council of Shiite Scholars of Afghanistan, and a member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, appreciated the conference and say, “The grief for the loss of the chief of the martyrs, Imam Hussain (a.s.), will remain forever. Ashura arose from God’s will.”
“Hussain’s love will always be in people’s hearts,” he said, referring to the hadiths about the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) about his grandson, Imam Hussain (a.s.).
“The consequence of Ashura is the guidance of humanity, and Arbaeen, in which millions of people participate, and is, in fact, the resurrection of the material world,” Ayatollah Salehi added, “Mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussain (a.s.) have guided thousands of people and have led to merits and the elimination of suffering in society.”
“Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his Ashura movement unite the Muslims of the world,” the head of the Council of Shiite Scholars of Afghanistan considered, “The three achievements of the Karbala movement are to keep people from going astray, to learn the lesson of standing up against oppression, and bringing about the freedom and rightfulness.”
Then at the conference, Ms. Sadat Kazemi, a professor at the seminary and the university, in her speech on the role of women in promoting the divine religions, said, “Women were active in promoting pre-Islamic religions. In Islam, this role has become more prominent that is due to Islam’s view of the equality of Muslim men and women in the faith. Therefore, both can propagate Islam.”
Referring to prominent women in the history of Islam, she emphasized their role in the educational, training, support, and promotion of Muslim women in society.
“Lady Zainab (a.s.) has tried in all religious aspects,” the panel member said, considering Lady Zainab (a.s.) as a role model.
“Zainab (a.s.) started propagating Islam from the massacre place of her brother Imam Hussain (a.s.), and based on logic, religious principles and values, she spoke and recited sermons,” he added.
“While understanding the message of Arbaeen and the role of Zainab (a.s.), and adhering to Islamic principles and values in the field of religion, politics, economics, etc., women should act like men, and these efforts must be appreciated,” she added.
Then at the conference, in his speech on “Arbaeen Educational Message”, Professor Sayed Hassan Hosseini Balkhi said, “Education means the influence of one human on another human. This influence exists in various areas of individual, social, and ethics. Arbaeen pilgrimage and ceremonies related to Imam Hussain (a.s.) transform the personal, social and political life of human beings.”
“In the conferences and pilgrimages where the Arbaeen pilgrimage is recited, its messages are repeated and are placed in the depths of the heart of the lovers of the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” Professor Hosseini Balkhi said, referring to the spiritual and spiritual effects of the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
“The salvation ship belonging to Imam Hussain (a.s.) is more effective and is more inclusive. As the spirituality of the pilgrimage of Arbaeen Imam Hussain (a.s.) to the soul and psyche of the pilgrims is undeniable. The equality, humbleness, and purity of the pilgrims in this pilgrimage are also remarkable,” he said, referring to the hadith of the “Safinat al-Nejat” (Ship of Salvation).
“Arbaeen ceremony has provided an opportunity to introduce the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) to the world, and Arbaeen pilgrimage introduces Imam Hussain (a.s.) to the world,” Dr. Balkhi emphasized:
“The uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) was to reform the Ummah. Arbaeen and its pilgrimage also cause the same reform in the society,” he reminded, referring to the impact of religiosity and adherence to Hossaini ethics in the social education of the people.
Following the conference, in his speech on “Religious Dignity in the Message of Imam Hussain (a.s.)” Dr. Ahmad Ali Niazi, a professor at the seminary and university, and another member of the panel said, “The uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) is complete and comprehensive, and includes all the principles of growth in various dimensions. It is necessary to do more research on the Karbala and Arbaeen uprisings.”
“Dignity is a part of human nature that is achieved in different ways. Dignity and giving dignity to human beings have been the main goals of Islam. Because these attributes lead to excellence and growth of human,” he said.
“If dignity is destroyed, society will surrender to any oppression. The induction of the slavery in the people in historical periods was done in such a way, such as the humiliation of the Israelites by Pharaoh,” he added.
“The result is a loss of dignity, oppression, and submission to the oppressors,” he emphasized.
Referring to the phrase “Hihat Mina al-Zalah” (No to Humiliation!) by Imam Hussain (a.s.), Dr. Niazi said, “This is the eternal message of Imam Hussain (a.s.) to his followers that a dignified death is better than a humiliating life.”
Following the conference, in his speech on “The permanence of the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.)”, Sayed Hossein Alemi Balkhi, chairman of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly, and a panel member, while welcoming the speakers and participants, said, “The AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly decided to hold the Arbaeen program in the form of the conference and a question-and-answer session by the panel members. I appreciate the presence and speech of Ayatollah Salehi Modarres, the head of the Council of Shiite Scholars of Afghanistan.”
“Many events in the world with tens of thousands of casualties have been forgotten. But Ashura, which was short in time and demographically limited, survived because of its clear value messages. There were no material or worldly issues in this uprising. The clear message that was presented in the words of Imam Hussain (a.s.) is to believe in religion and to defend religious values, to enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and freedom,” Mr. Alemi Balkhi said.
“Readiness for self-sacrifice in this direction is the important message of Ashura,” he added.
“Before the Ashura event, Imam Hussain (a.s.) had considered and planned to convey the message of the movement. Were it not for the captives of Karbala, the messages of Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) movement would not have been transmitted to this day, and the world. On his way to Karbala, Imam Hussain (a.s.) carried out messaging measures. Even, for the time after his martyrdom, he had considered important issues, and Lady Zainab (a.s.) and the other family members of Imam Hussain (a.s.) became the messengers of his uprising. The emotional aspects of the Karbala uprising were another influential element in the Ashura message, which strengthened its effectiveness,” Mr. Alemi Balkhi said, regarding the factors that made the Ashura messages effective and lasting.
“The courage of the speaker of Ashura, namely Lady Zainab (a.s.), was another essential element to convey the message of the uprising. She did not remain silent in the face of any threat. In such a way that with the occurrence of the Karbala Event, she boldly and calmly responded to the humiliations of Ibn Ziad and Yazid,”, “The decisiveness and influence of Zainab’s words in Kufa was such that it reminded the people of Kufa of the tone and content of her father, Imam Ali’s (a.s.) words. One of the characteristics of Lady Zainab (a.s.) was her eloquence. Also, the repetition of the messages of Ashura throughout history by the infallible Imams (a.s.), Shiites, and lovers of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), played an essential role in influencing the message of the movement of Imam Hussain (a.s.),” added the chairman of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly.
“Finally, it should be mentioned that the message of Arbaeen is that truth always triumphs over falsehood, and choosing the path of values brings man to the truth. We must always remember this lesson,” Alami Balkhi said.
In another part of the program, Mr. Khodadad Faghihi recited a poem by Allameh Iqbal Lahori.
Panel members also answered participants’ questions.
In this section, Hosseini Balkhi said, “There is no separation between education and moral training, these two issues are interrelated. Education must be formed in three stages of awareness, acceptance, and behavior. Even, some scholars consider education to be part of moral training.”
In the end, Dr. Niazi said, “It is wrong to present a picture of the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) that would tarnish the honor and dignity of the martyrs of Karbala.”
The conference ended with the recitation of a prayer by Hojat al-Islam Fetri.
