We are expecting rightful, legitimate demands of Afghan Shiite society: Akbari

Hojat al-Islam Akbari stated, “We are expecting the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan to provide us with the rightful and legitimate demands of the Afghan Shiite society – which constitutes more than 20% of the country’s population.”

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the 7th General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly at Iran International Conference Center in Tehran, Hojat al-Islam Mohammad Akbari stated, “Afghanistan has been burning in the fire of war for 45 years.”

Pointing out that Afghanistan has suffered devastating wars in the past years, the Afghan member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “After years of colonialism in Afghanistan, NATO and American forces failed and left the country humiliatingly.”

“The Muslim people of Afghanistan did not tolerate the presence of the occupier in their land,” he added, “With their resistance, the people of our country defeated the Soviet forces in the late 20th century, and the American forces and its allies in NATO at the early 21st century.”

“During the past year, the new government of Afghanistan did not gain power through negotiations, but came to power with weapons,” Akbari noted.

“There are still some unsettled issues in Afghanistan that we hope will be resolved through peaceful negotiation and away from violence. We are expecting the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan to provide us with the rightful and legitimate demands of the Afghan Shiite society – which constitutes more than 20% of the country’s population,” he stated.

“Afghanistan is still burdened by the destruction of the past 45 years and is suffering from extreme poverty,” said the Afghan member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in the end.
