ABWA Official Website – On Thursday, December 15, 2022, the session for review and criticism of the translation of two books “Al-Islam Manhaj Mashregh al-Hayat” in Hindi and “Nahj Al-Hayat, The Collection of Hadith if Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.) (The Manifestations of infallibility)” in Urdu was held in AhlulBayt (a.s.) Hall of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in Qom.

About the strengths of this book Barabanki said, “This book is designed with regard to Muslim issues in the world, and answers doubts in a useful and practical way. Also, the comprehensiveness of this book in expressing various issues has addressed all the needs of the Muslims of India regarding Islam.”

Pointing out some flaws in the editing and translation of this book, he added, “The most important weakness of this book, while the contents are accurate, is the type of translation. Because it is not suitable for the general Muslim people due to the use of complex and sophisticated terms in the translation.”

As the second critic of this book, Mr. Zaki Noori from Mumbai, India stated, “Among the strengths of this book is the expression of the requirements of human life in the path of perfection, with reference to Quranic verses and hadiths, in addition to the opinions of Muslim and non-Muslim scholars. The translation of this book is fluent, and the religious and Islamic terms are explained in Indian language, which makes the audience understand contents better.”

At the end of the first part of the session, Ms. Zahra Zaidi, the editor of the Indian translation of the book “Al-Islam Manhaj Mashregh al-Hayat”, thanked the critics and said, “Hindi and Urdu languages are in dire situation in India. So that even the press uses misspelled words. Regarding the Urdu language, it should be said that this language is being removed from schools. Some of the problems of the critics are related to this literary confusion in India.”

In the second part of this session, Mr. Baqer Reza, an Urdu language expert from India, reviewed the book “Nahj Al-Hayat, The Collection of Hadith if Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.) (The Manifestations of infallibility)” in Urdu.

“This book is considered a good choice for translation because it contains complete contents of the life of Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.). By a detailed classification of hadiths, the subject list of this book provides easy access and reference for the audience. With accurate and fluent translation, especially the translation of Quranic verses and hadiths, it has provided reading and understanding for the general public of India,” he said.

Further in the session, the Urdu language expert expressing his suggestions said, “Among the people of India, the term “Infallibility” is used for Imams (a.s.) and from the title of Manifestations of Infallibility it is understood that the book is about Imams (a.s.) and no one thinks that it is specific to Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.). Therefore, it was appropriate to use another word dedicated to her in the title of the book. Another thing is that it is necessary that at the beginning of the book, the translator’s words about the translation method and his points of view be included, so it can prepare the reader’s mental space for reading the book.”

At the end of this session, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly honored some top researchers in the field of authoring and translation. /345/
