Book “Shiite Ambassador in the West”, model for clerics and missionaries: Mostafavi

In the unveiling ceremony of the book “Shiite Ambassador in the West”, Dr. Mehdi Mostafavi, Deputy for the Office of the Supreme Leader in the International Affairs, stated, “This book is a biography of the educated scholar and thinker, Hojat al-Islam Mohammad Mohagheghi Lahiji.”

“About 68 years have passed since the demise of the late researcher. His blessed life has been 58 years. During this period, he was able to obtain the qualifications to be trusted by Grand Ayatollah Borujerdi, and to travel to Germany as a representative of the Shiite Marjaiat,” he added, who has collected this valuable book.

“The fact that the late Mohagheghi Lahiji was able to prepare himself for propagating and explaining the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) abroad in this short period of time is a matter for study and reflection. How was he able to achieve this preparation at a time when it is so different from the present time?” Mostafavi said.

Considering the Islamic Center and Imam Ali (a.s.) Mosque in Hamburg as one of the most important and effective centers of Shiites and AhlulBayt (a.s.) abroad, the Deputy for the Office of the Supreme Leader in the International Affairs said, “This is due to the sincerity of the founders of this sacred center. This sincerity is evident in the beliefs, behavior, and funding of its construction.”

“Verses of the Quran are engraved on the building stone of the center and the Islamic Mosque of Hamburg, and there is no mentioning of the name of a person or institution or group,” Mostafavi added.

“Another feature that has made the activities of this center enduring, is the very good relations that the late Mohagheghi had established with the figures and centers that were influential in Germany. A member of the German parliament, the mayor of Hamburg, the consuls general of Islamic countries, university professors, and prominent Iranians living in Hamburg were invited to the first meeting to build the mosque. This connection created security and stability for the center's activities, which continues to this day,” said Dr. Mostafavi.

“This book is a model for clerics, missionaries, and students,” said the former head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, appreciating all who helped him in compiling and publishing the book “Shiite Ambassador in the West”.

It should be mentioned that the unveiling ceremony of the book “Shiite Ambassador in the West”, a description of the efforts of Hojat al-Islam Mohammad Mohagheghi Lahiji, the first Imam of Imam Ali (a.s.) Mosque in the Islamic Center of Hamburg, Germany, was held on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
