The governor of Karbala stated, “Arbaeen pilgrimage this year was the largest Arbaeen pilgrimage in the history. In this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage, 60,000 volunteers participated in serving the pilgrims.”
Mr. Nasif Jassem al-Khetabi, the governor of Karbala, announced that the 2022 Arbaeen pilgrimage was the greatest Arbaeen pilgrimage in history.
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, in a joint press conference with Osman Al-Ghanimi, the Minister of Interior affairs of Iraq, Mr. Nasif Jassem al-Khetabi, the governor of Karbala stated, “No security plan succeeds without prior planning for service, health and transportation measures for pilgrims.”
“In this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage, 60,000 volunteers participated in serving the pilgrims,” al-Khetabi added.
“Even though the national ministries and institutions of other provinces supported Karbala province to provide the best service to millions of pilgrims, the service, security and health departments of the province faced great challenges in dealing with this huge population,” the governor of Karbala expressed.
According to an initial estimate, 20 million pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq went to Karbala during this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage. This number is three million more than the number of Arbaeen pilgrims last year. This is despite the fact that Iraqi cities, including its pilgrimage cities, do not have the necessary infrastructure, and only the miracles of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and the efforts of the people and officials of the country provide the conditions for the pilgrimage of this large population.
The Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that was established by a group of Shiite elites under the supervision of the great Islamic authority of the Shiites in 1990 to identify, organize, educate and support the followers of Ahl al-Bayt.
