These cases of spreading hatred and inciting religious sentiments ignite hostile feelings and divisions in human societies and insult the values of freedom and human concepts and only in the interests of extremists.
Following a new insult to the sanctity of the Holy Quran by extremists in Sweden, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly issued a statement denouncing this vicious act.
The statement is as follows:
In his Almighty Name
The insulting act of one of Sweden’s political parties in insulting the Holy Quran in the holy month of Ramadan, wounded the hearts of all Muslims and free people.
The open attack on the beliefs of nearly two billion people and the insult to their religion and divine book cannot be tolerated or silenced.
This act is a repetition of previous disgusting and hateful attempts, such as drawing cartoons and films insulting the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h).
This kind of irrational and extremist actions are racist and hateful movements that, in addition to inciting the feelings of the Islamic Ummah, incite hatred and violence, and endanger the movement towards the call for peaceful coexistence and the realization of world peace.
These cases of spreading hatred and inciting religious sentiments ignite hostile feelings and divisions in human societies and insult the values of freedom and human concepts and only in the interests of extremists.
Denouncing this ugly and inhumane move, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly calls on the Swedish government and parliament to criminalize insults to the beliefs and books of religions by passing a law, and to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
The Government of Sweden and other European countries should recognize this principle and affirm that it is not acceptable to insult the sanctity of any of the divine religions under the pretext of “freedom of expression”.
